Intel Northwest Science Expo Dates

For 2018 the Intel Northwest Science Expo will combine middle and high school once again. It will be Friday April 13, 2018, set-up will be available the evening before. It will be held in the new Viking Pavilion part of the Peter Stott Center. High school students must qualify for Intel NWSE by placing in the top third at their regional fair.

High School Student Volunteers needed

As April 13th is a no school day for Portland Public Schools, high school students are invited to volunteer to help with safety checks and middle school judging. Use this form for registration. Students competing at the fair can volunteer for Safety Checks.

Scholarship opportunity

The Blake Family/USMA $2,500.00 scholarship award deadline for the 2018-2019 school year has been extended until April 15. If you know any high school seniors looking for scholarship money for college, please encourage them to apply. The application and all other information is on the US Metric Association website.

Next two Regional Fairs Saturday and Monday

CWOSE at the University of Oregon is seeking judges for middle and high school projects for Saturday March 3rd. Would love to see some NWSES alumni register. College students make great middle school judges.

CREST, the West Linn Wilsonville fair needs chemistry, bioengineering and materials science, physics and math and special awards judges Monday March 5th at West Linn High School.

Judges Needed!

Our first fairs are Friday February 23rd, both are still actively recruiting judges. Please check your calendar and volunteer. The rest of the regional fairs occur in March and while the quantity of projects has increased, those volunteering to judge have not. Register for as many fairs as you can by following the registration link in the upper right.

High School Project registration deadline

Today is the deadline for GBSE, CWOSE and CRSE projects to be mailed and registered online. Contact Stephanie if you have any issues meeting this deadline. Friday is the deadline for PPSSE.

New judge shifts available for Intel NWSE

To attract more middle school judges, we are offering half day shifts. Judges are there either in the morning or afternoon, report their rankings to their head judge and are excused from deliberations. This is a good option for college students.

Judge registration is open!

Check out the dates of our fairs, then register to judge by clicking on the link in the upper right.

Online Registration Open for Adult Sponsors and Projects

Online registration is open for Adult Sponsors and projects. The adult must add the project before the student has access. If you have any issues with registration please email Stephanie at
