Intel Northwest Science Expo Dates

For 2019 the Intel Northwest Science Expo will combine middle and high school. It will be Friday April 12, 2019, set-up will be available the evening before. It will be held in the new Viking Pavilion part of the Peter Stott Center. High school students must qualify for Intel NWSE by placing in the top third at their regional fair.

American Chemical Society

The American Chemical Society Education Division promotes excellence in science education and science literacy through a number of activities supporting teachers and learners of chemistry. Through its participation in Intel ISEF, ACS encourages and supports high school students in their exploration of the chemical sciences through research experiences.

Founded in 1876, the American Chemical Society is a self-governed individual membership organization that consists of members at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry. The organization provides a broad range of opportunities for peer interaction and career development.

Answers to common questions

All high school and special awards judges are expected for the whole day 8ish to ~3:15. If you selected Middle School AM or PM, it will show on your judge main menu. Hours for AM judges are 8:30am-12:30pm, PM judges are 11:30am-3:30pm. 

Parking is always a challenge at PSU, use Trimet if you can. Otherwise Parking structure 3 at 12th and Montgomery has the most daily spots, you do not have to stop at the kiosk, there are Payment machines to use. If you are a half day judge street parking may be the better option.

For middle school STUDENTS, session 1 judging in the morning is from 10:30am-noon, doors to the exhibit hall will open at 10:15am. For students in session 2 in the afternoon doors will open at 12:45pm, interviews are from 1-2:30pm. 

Public viewing is from 2:30-4:30pm directly followed by the middle school award ceremony.

High school award ceremony starts at 6:30pm

Project list and SRC report

For the complete list of projects expected at Intel NWSE. For current SRC status of projects, corrections need to be brought to the fair during set-up. Those that are not corrected will not be able to compete. For middle school adult sponsors, if I missed your school on the Session list, your assignment is listed on your Project Management page in registration.

Intel NWSE Fair Day Info

The Intel Northwest Science Expo is Friday April 13th at the Peter Stott Center. The physical address is 930 SW Hall, Portland OR 97201.  The schedule is available. The nearest parking structure is Parking Structure 3 at 12th and Montgomery.

Poster set-up is Thursday April 12th from 5-8pm or Friday April 13th from 7-9am. All students should read the display requirements.

We still need volunteers to help with set-up.

Intel NWSE middle school judging session assignments

Teachers, Adult Sponsors and Parents can view the time middle school students are expected for judging. All posters must be set-up by 9am on April 13th. There will be activities available for sign-up during selected times for middle and high school students.

Safety Check Volunteers needed

If you are available to assist with Safety Check either Thursday April 12th 5-8pm OR Friday April 13th 7-9am Use this form for registration. Ignore the title, anyone can use this registration form.

Scholarship opportunity

The Blake Family/USMA $2,500.00 scholarship award deadline for the 2018-2019 school year has been extended until April 15. If you know any high school seniors looking for scholarship money for college, please encourage them to apply. The application and all other information is on the US Metric Association website.
