2017 Intel NWSE Middle School Student Schedule
All events take place at Portland State University in the Smith Memorial Student Union. For safety and security reasons, students are required to wear name tags at all Intel NWSE events.
Monday, May 1, 2017
8:00 - 10:00am: Exhibit setup and Safety Check at PSU. All Posters must be set-up during this time and all forms need to be present. The student does NOT need to be present. Safety Checkers will assist in set-up and approve displays. After an exhibit is approved, it will receive a Safety Check approved sticker to place on the exhibit placard. Please leave the exhibit hall when finished with Safety Check. Judges will start reviewing projects at 9:30am, so please set-up as early as possible. It is highly recommended that an adult bring all the posters for a school in the morning, students do not need to be present until noon.
10:00am -noon: Free time & lunch on your own. Nametags will be at student exhibits.
12:10 - 2:30pm: Students interviewed by judges at their exhibits. Students must be at their exhibit during the whole judging time. No food or sound-producing electronics, including cell phones, may be used during judging. Bottled water will be allowed for student consumption. No Parents or Adult Sponsors are allowed in the exhibit hall during judging. We recommend bringing a book to read between judge interviews.
2:30 - 4:00pm: Free time.
4:00 - 6:00pm: Middle School Exhibits open to the public. Students should be at their projects. Please note there are multiple exhibit halls. A travelling award ceremony will be delivering ribbons to students who win a category award. Winner lists will also be posted.
5:15 - 5:45pm: Middle School Special Award Ceremony in Ballroom. Students with exhibits in the ballroom will be asked to lower posters, students whose names are listed on the Special Award winner list need to enter the Ballroom and come to the stage when he/she is announced.
6:00pm: Clean-up. Posters need to be removed by 6:15pm. Assistance cleaning up paper appreciated.
