Southwestern Oregon Regional Science Expo
SPONSORS AND DONORS ARE NEEDED! PLEASE HELP US FIND FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR SORSE!
Southwestern Oregon has a long history of supporting student research projects for SORSE, NWSE and ISEF. SORSE originated at Gold Beach High School and was held there on the 1st Saturday in March for many years.
We welcome all kinds of participation in SORSE - as a student participant, as an adult sponsor, as a judge, as a donor, or as a general volunteer. Please register online on this site and we'll look forward to working with you on a great expo!
This year SORSE will be on Saturday, March 13th. It will be held at The Lighthouse School in North Bend, Oregon. SORSE is one of the smaller Regional Science Expos in Oregon, so that allows us to give more attention to individual projects. Our goal is not just to judge projects and give out awards, but also to help students learn from their SORSE experience so they can apply it to future projects or future levels of competition.
The registration fee this year will be $10 per project (non-refundable) and must be postmarked by Friday, February 20th along with copies of the signed ISEF/NWSE forms. Registration after February 20th will be $20 and will be accepted up to and including the day of the fair. Please make out checks to Robyn Darbyshire and send them to our address listed below. If this fee is a hardship for you or if you need to make your payment after February 20th, please let us know.
Even if your project is not complete, please bring it to the expo. In 2009, a student who earned trips to ISEF and ISWEEEP from SORSE (and $500 from each of those events), did not have any data yet when she presented her project at SORSE. Students going on to NWSE have several weeks to work on their projects, as do students going on to ISWEEEP and ISEF. Judges are interested in your creativity, your originality, and your ability to explain what you plan to do between SORSE and the next competition.
We welcome your suggestions for the expo and hope you will join us in Coos Bay on March 13th, 2010.
