2019 Intel NWSE Judge Schedules

High School Schedule For Category And Finalist Judges

Judging occurs in the Viking Pavilion on the PSU Campus on Friday April 12th. For security reasons, judges are required to wear name tags through all judging events at the Intel NWSE.

 

8:00 AM

Coffee and continental breakfast available in practice gym (formerly main gym).

8:30 - 9:00 AM

Judge orientation. Finalist judges are selected.

9:00 - 10:30 AM

Judges view exhibits without students present.

10 AM

Special Award nominations are due.

10:30 - Noon

Students interviewed by judges at their exhibits.

Noon - 1:00 PM

Judges lunch and team meetings.

1:00 - 2:30 PM

Students interviewed by judges at their exhibits. Judges who finish with their own category are asked to interview projects from selected others.

2:30 - 3:15 PM

Judge deliberations. 

3:15 PM

Decision Deadline. Latest time to turn in Category Award Summary to Judge Coordinator for review. Head Judge takes summary to data entry. Judges need to stay until their results have been certified and the Head Judge dismisses them.

3:20 PM

Announcement of candidates for Best of Fair and ISEF. COMMENT SHEETS DUE 3:45PM

3:30 - 5:00 PM

Interviews for Best of Fair and ISEF.

5:00 - 5:30 PM

Best of Fair and ISEF judges make their decisions.

2:30 - 4:30 PM

Exhibits open to the public and press.

5:30 PM

Decision Deadline. Latest time to turn in Best Of Fair and ISEF summaries to Judge Coordinators. Judges need to stay until their results have been certified and the Judge Coordinators dismiss them.

6:30 - 8:00 PM

Awards Ceremony in Exhibit Hall.

Middle School Schedule For Category and Finalist Judges

Judging occurs at Portland State University in the Viking Pavilion Friday April 12th. For security reasons, judges are required to wear name tags through all judging events at the Intel NWSE.

 

8:00 ­- 9:00 AM

Judge orientation and breakfast. Peter Stott Center practice gym.

9:00 - 10:30 AM

Poster viewing. Special Award judging begins.

10:30 AM - Noon

Session 1 Student interviews. Only half the middle school students will be present.

Noon-1:00 PM

Lunch and team meetings.

1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Session 2 Student interviews. The second half of projects will be present.

2:30 - 3:15 PM

Deliberations. Each category may make 1 Best of Fair nomination (due 3:15pm). One judge from each nominating category stays for advocacy style Best of Fair judging. Comment Sheets completed.

3:15 PM

Decision Deadline for Category and Special Awards. COMMENT SHEETS DUE 3:45PM

3:15 - 4:00 PM

Best of Fair discussion in exhibit halls during public viewing or posters removed to judge room.

4:00 PM

Decision Deadline. Best of Fair results are due.

4:30 - 5:30 PM

Special Award Schedule for High School and Middle School Judges

For security reasons, judges are required to wear name tags through all judging events at the Intel NWSE. Both Divisions will be in the Viking Pavilion on Friday April 12th.

High School and Middle School Special Awards will follow the same schedule

8:00 - 9:00 AM

9:00 - 10:30 AM

Judges view exhibits without students present.

Special Award nominations from category judges are available from the Special award Coordinator.

10:30 - Noon

Students interviewed by judges at their exhibits. Special awards judges may interview students whenever a category judge is not doing an interview. During this session only half the middle school students are present.

Noon - 1:00 PM

Judges lunch and team meetings.

1:00 - 2:30 PM

Second interview time. The second half of middle school students present.

3:15 PM

Decision Deadline turn in nomination forms to Data Entry and stay to sign off on approval sheet.

4:30-5:30 PM Middle School Award Ceremony in Exhibit Hall.

6:30 - 8:00 PM

High School Award Ceremony in Exhibit Hall.
